Bagni San Filippo

There is an enchanted place near Castiglione d'Orcia, where the thermal  waters form waterfalls surrounded by greenery and the calcareous concretions have shaped a magical landscape: it is Bagni San Filippo, a place that owes its name to the town church dedicated to St Philip Benizi, who stayed there as a hermit in 1269.
The area of the free baths is called Fosso Bianco, with pools of crystal-clear water, and the Fontana della Balena, where the waters are bluer and warmer and reach 48° C.
The mud that collects at the bottom of the pools is precious as a treatment for the skin.
