Casa di Dante (Dante's House) is located in via Santa Margherita in Florence. It was the poet himself who wrote that he was born in the shadow of the Badia Fiorentina, beneath the parish church of San Martino. The nearby church of Santa Margherita dei Cerchi, where Dante married Gemma Donati and where he probably met Beatrice Portinari, bears witness to the place. Inside Dante's house, there is a Museum dedicated to the poet's life and works. Among other things, it contains some drawings related to the Divine Comedy, the times and the characters who were close to him during his life; other models highlight the historical aspects and events of the period, such as
the battle of Campaldino
The museum was recently renovated with an immersive display that uses virtual reality, interactivity, 3D reconstructions and video projections to tell the story of Dante's world. It has nine rooms, in which history and culture are narrated through technology, stimulating the visitor's participatory approach.
