Torre dei Cugnanesi

Between Via del Quercecchio and Via San Giovanni, near the Arco dei Becci city gate, stands the Torre dei Cugnanesi, near the palace of the same name. The tower dates back to the 13th century and is among the tallest in the city. The building dates back to the same period and can be recognised by a series of external corbels that support the gallery on the upper level. From the road that climbs up towards the fortress of Montestaffoli, you can see the corner of the building that looks like a bastion, as it was a part of the first city wall and of the system of defence of the village.
