If you have ever played Assassin's Creed, visiting Tuscany will give you the opportunity to experience the transition from virtual to real.
The second episode of the saga is, in fact, set partly in the Tuscan Renaissance locations, with many of is most important historical figures, such as Lorenzo de' Medici, Niccolò Machiavelli and Leonardo Da Vinci.
In Florence and San Gimignano, the scenario alternates in a continuous conflict between two powerful Orders. The protagonist, Ezio Auditore, relives the feuds between the Medici family and the Pazzi family, one of which was close to the Brotherhood of the Assassins and the other to the powerful Templars. Both factions are searching for the missing pieces of the mysterious Codex, a mosaic book which, once reassembled, will become activated to holographically reveal an ancient secret. The powerful symbol to be found could provide the key to avoiding a catastrophe in future history. But where might this ancient artefact be kept? The search for the pages that make up the Codex takes the protagonist Ezio to San Gimignano, to the Torre Grossa, the Torre del Diavolo and the Torre dei Salvucci. Not finding what he is looking for, he also enters the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
But the city of the Towers does not contain the missing pages of the manuscript: a monk may have some of the missing pages with him. The Monk is Girolamo Savonarola, who is taking control of the city of Florence through lieutenants who guard the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's bell tower, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.
The search is becoming more and more intense. It becomes necessary to escape from Florence and search in the city of Pienza, in Piazza Pio II, where they say there is a secret passage under the Cathedral that connects with Palazzo Piccolomini and Palazzo Comunale.
The search will continue in many other places. Intuition will lead the protagonist to believe that the secret hidden in the Codex is linked to events that could destroy the future.
